Camp Good Days is seeking a seasonal Kitchen Assistant responsible for supporting the Kitchen Manager with food preparation, meal service for all campers, staff, & volunteers, and maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of the kitchen spaces during our overnight summer camp programs. Camp Good Days and Special Times, Inc. is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization, founded in 1979, dedicated to improving the quality of life for children, adults and families whose lives have been affected by cancer or sickle cell anemia. All the programs and services provided by Camp Good Days are offered free of charge for the participants, which is only possible through the generosity of so many individuals and organizations, as well as the success of our many special fundraising events.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- To assist the Kitchen Manager in preparing and serving meals to all campers, staff, and guests. Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of the kitchen and dishwashing area
- Assist in the daily operations of the camp food service
- Direct the work of summer staff kitchen helpers
- Prepare and cook food as the menu indicates utilizing the appropriate methods
- Advise staff on equipment or preparation materials needed for identified menu choices or special dietary restrictions/allergies
- Provide authority in the event that the Kitchen Manager is not on-site
- Clean and maintain all food-preparation and storage areas
- Maintain compliance with the NYS Department of Health and ACA Guidelines.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be 18 Years or Older
- Food Service Handling Certification preferred (CGD can assist in obtaining)
- Experience and familiarity with food service and kitchen
- Ability to transfer 30lbs unloading food, carry trays, dishes, supplies as needed
- Reliable transportation to and from work
Hourly Range: $18 - $22
Hours: Typically, 40 hours a week with some exceptions based on program calendar. We will work with the right canadiate to set a schedule for the summer that meets both their availability and our program needs. Start date: June 29, End date: August 14. Pre-season (as early as June 1) and post-season opportunities available at the descretion of the Executive Director.
