    Job Title:      Assistant Kitchen Manager
      Classification:      Summer-Seasonal-Salaried
  Reports to:    Food Service Manager

Position Purpose:  
•    To assist the Food Service Manager in preparing and serving meals to all campers, staff, and guests. Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of the kitchen and dishwashing area in compliance with the NYS Department of Health and ACA Guidelines.

Essential Job Functions:
•    Assist in the daily operations of the camp food service
•    Supervise, teach and direct the work of summer staff kitchen helpers
•    Prepare and cook food as the menu indicates utilizing the appropriate methods
•    Advise staff on equipment or preparation materials needed for identified menu choices or special dietary restrictions/allergies
•    Provide authority in the event that the Kitchen Manager is not on-site
•    Ability to transfer 30lbs unloading food, carry trays, dishes, supplies as needed
•    Clean and maintain all food-preparation and storage areas

•    Certification in Food Service Handling preferred
•    Must be 18 years old to apply

•    The Assistant Kitchen Manager will have a designated relationship with the Food Service Manager, and through them, may correspond directly or indirectly to program staff and counselors regarding to the integration of the food service in camp programs, trips, dishwashing, etc. The Kitchen Assistant will often have direct communication with the Medical Director related to dietary needs of campers and staff.
