Maintenance Staff

Classification: Seasonal/ Nonexempt
Location: Branchport, NY

*Position has potential to extend to year-round, based on seasonal performance*

SUMMARY
Under the direction of the facility Director, assist in the maintenance and repair of the camp’s buildings, grounds, equipment, and other facilities consistent with the mission and established policies and procedures of the camp.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Maintain campgrounds

  • Operate necessary grounds care equipment such as weed eater, power washer, leaf blower, etc., safely and efficiently
  • Be aware and make necessary changes to hazards found on campgrounds
  • Assist with basic landscaping needs (i.e., weeding, ground-cover trimming, mulching, leaf removal)
  • Aid in weekly pool maintenance (i.e., skimming and vacuuming the pool, brush walls/deck)

Assist in the repair of buildings and facilities.

  • Make minor repairs as needed (i.e., drywall, painting, unclogging toilets, etc.)

Perform janitorial and general maintenance duties

  • Follow a daily cleaning schedule
  • Sweep, mop, power wash, wash windows and screens, clear biohazards, shovel snow
  • Dispose of daily debris, trash, and waste

Perform all duties following compliance guidelines, including NYSDOH local and state guidelines and American Camp Association accreditation standards.

  • Assist with emergencies on site
  • Assist in conducting initial and end-of-season inventory and storage
  • Check buildings and equipment for safety, cleanliness, and good repair
  • Report hazards to the Facility Director

Participate as a member of the camp staff team to deliver programs, special events,
fundraisers, and other camp functions.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be 18+ years of age
  • Valid and current driving license
  • Reliable transportation to and from work
  • Ability to walk, stand, bend and stretch for an extended period
  • Ability to lift up to approximately 50 pounds
  • Flexible schedule as needed (occasional irregular hours and weekends)
  • Able to operate with daily exposure to the sun and heat and other weather environmental conditions

Hours: 40 hours/ week, schedule as determined with the Facility Director. Occasional nights or weekends based on program needs.

Hourly Range: $17 - $20/ hour
