Mendon, N.Y. — Two local high schools are using their season-opening football game to help those affected by cancer.

Victor will host Rush-Henrietta to kick off the season Thursday night in the fifth annual Teddi Bowl.

The game will help raise money for Camp Good Days, which provides programming for families impacted by cancer and other challenges.

Four campers will serve as honorary coaches for the night and two others will serve as honorary cheerleaders.

Victor's girls soccer team will also be a part of the festivities, hosting Mercy in a game scheduled for 6:30 p.m. with one camper joining each team as an honorary coach.

"It's more than a football game, and it is something that these kids will remember — and also their moms and dads," said Gary Mervis, founder of Camp Good Days. "They love to see the kids do something that's bigger than them."

The football game kicks off at 7 p.m. and will air live on CW Rochester, 13wham.com and the 13WHAM ABC Facebook page.
