Maintenance Assistance

Classification: Nonexempt (Seasonal)
Location: Branchport, NY
 

Description:
Under the direction of the Property Manager, assist in the maintenance and repair of the camp’s buildings, grounds, equipment, and other facilities consistent with the mission and established policies and procedures of the camp.


Essential Job Functions:
1. Maintain campgrounds

  • Operate necessary grounds care equipment such as weed eater, power washer, leaf blower, etc., safely and efficiently
  • Be aware and make necessary changes to hazards found on campgrounds
  • Assist with basic landscaping needs (i.e., weeding, ground-cover trimming, mulching, leaf removal)
  • Aid in weekly pool maintenance (i.e., skimming and vacuuming the pool, brush walls/deck)

2. Assist in the repair of buildings and facilities.

  • Make minor repairs as needed (i.e., drywall, painting, unclogging toilets, etc.)

3. Perform janitorial and general maintenance duties

  • Follow a daily cleaning schedule to sanitize bathrooms, cabins, and program areas
  • Sweep, mop, power wash, wash windows and screens, clear biohazards, shovel snow
  • Dispose of daily debris, trash, and waste

4. Perform all duties following compliance guidelines, including NYSDOH local and state guidelines and American Camp Association accreditation standards.

  • Assist with emergencies on site
  • Assist in conducting initial and end-of-season inventory and storage
  • Check buildings and equipment for safety, cleanliness, and good repair
  • Report hazards to the Facility Manager

5. Participate as a member of the camp staff team to deliver programs, special events,
fundraisers, and other camp functions.


Qualifications:

  • Must be 18+ years of age
  • Valid and current driving license and reliable transportation to and from work
  • Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and have received a booster if eligible

Physical Aspects of the Position:

  • Ability to walk, stand, bend and stretch for an extended period
  • Ability to lift up to approximately 50 pounds
  • Willing to work a flexible schedule as needed (irregular hours and weekends)
  • Able to operate with daily exposure to the sun and heat and other environmental conditions
